I'm Drew Kolar, originally from West Virginia, going to school at NYU. Since probalby junior high, I've written song lyrics, and I've written poems, stories, and lots of other things since I can remember... Then I got a guitar one Christmas and started writing songs on it. I'm not that good, but I've been writing songs ever since and have built up quite a collection. I'm also studying to be a journalist and have been writing news articles for the past few months. I've been published in the Washington Square News, as well.
I used to want to be called "Blaize Zephyr" as a stage name, just for fun, because that was my name in a Wicca coven I used to be in. Well, now, I just go by my real name, I'm much happier with it these days. Also, my music is about me, for the most part, so why not use my own name?
I like to listen to Alanis Morissette and Natalie Imbruglia. They got me started. Lately, however, my favorites have been Bif Naked, who is an awesome role model, and Kate Havnevik, who I came across through Grey's Anatomy and MySpace.com. She is very sweet and makes beautiful music. My other favorites and inspirations include, but aren't necessarily limited to: No Doubt, David Bowie, The Rolling Stones, Barry White, The Sneaker Pimps, Kelli Ali, Carole King, Garbage, Aerosmith, Fiona Apple, Matchbox 20, Nirvana, Dido, The Vincent Black Shadow, Britt Black... probably many more.
